Mission:
Local 590’s mission is to promote and ensure harmonious relations, cooperation, and understanding between the University of Pennsylvania and the employee members of Local 590, to insure true collective bargaining, and to establish proper standards of wages, hours and other conditions of employment and to foster mutual interests through the development of labor/management cooperation.
Founded in 1969:
Local 590, affiliated with AFSCME, AFL-CIO and its District Council No.47, is the exclusive representative of the support staff personnel of the University of Pennsylvania Libraries.
